DECEPTIVE TOYS

Unperceived by the naked eyes,
Their mysterious purpose unfold.
Affecting our everyday lives,
Immense significance they hold.

Replicas of the adult world,
Subtly are these amusement devices designed.
Confining innocent minds,
They illucidate gender roles that have been assigned.

She is a confined being,
Amidst four walls.
Cooking and grooming were ingrained in her,
With kitchen sets and Barbie dolls.

Alternatively, his dreams have always been sky high,
Fluttering with aeroplanes,
Great freedom they signify.

This is the cryptic meaning that they imply.
Thereby they cease to be mere toys.

The Rhyming scheme Was Fantastic Certain words were used so nicely that, It felt like I was Talking to You.
There Are Certain things u can tell about by someones poem u are a thinker & have a certain quest for finding out...
This power of thought is the weapon which'll help u in the run,I wish GOD endows u with more of it...

You write beautiful abstract poetry. I wish I had the knack and I hope to see more from you. Thank you for commenting on my blog. I wouldn't have found you if you hadn't.

Very well written indeed. Its one thing to hold a concept - its quite another to convey so clearly in a poem. Its a rare talent - cultivate it dearly.

With all due respect to the poem though, I think gender roles are changing. Yet, it is true the toys children play with as kids, often symbolize the ambition they hold. Consequently your poem makes me think if a girl is given solely kitchen toys, does it affect the scale of her imagination and subtly confines her ambition ?? Its definitely a thought that will fester. Thank you for a stimulating thread.

P:S::

From the comments on my blog, I realize we probably should have a discussion :)

I made my blog visible in 2008 but have been writing since 2005. Some of the posts you commented on - well at the time I was just writing for myself and never thought anyone would read them. At the time I made my blog visible, I assumed everyone will just read the newer posts (well most of them do) and left them as it is .... Don't get me wrong - I love that you read the older posts and deeeply appreciate your comments, its just your comment made me read those posts again.... I have changed since the time I wrote like that .... But then again - you will have known that from the articles you've read. :)

PPS:: This form of lengthy comment where part has nothing to do with the post - sucks - so pray be kind enough to communicate on email - you can reach me at sanket.korgaonkar@gmail.com :)

You rhyme well - and all the while without losing the essential relation to the theme. Aptly written! :)
